What if the businesses in your neighbourhood were already building the future — and nobody knew? That’s what weRcircular is here to change.
Today, I’m proud to introduce weRcircular, a non-profit born from a simple but powerful conviction: that a circular economy isn’t a distant ideal. It’s already happening, quietly, in the small and medium businesses that form the backbone of our communities. Our job is to shine a light on it.
The linear model – take, make, waste – is running out of road. Resources are finite. Communities are feeling the strain. But look closely at the businesses around you and you’ll find something different: owners who repair instead of replace, who source locally, who close loops others leave open. These are the pioneers of circularity. They deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
OUR THREE COMMITMENTS
What we stand for
Shared Language
Most people haven’t heard the words “circular economy” — but they’ve seen it in action, shopped it, and benefited from it. weRcircular’s role is to close that gap: giving businesses the language to describe what they do, and giving communities the context to recognize why it matters.
Built Together
The best communications come from collaboration. weRcircular works with businesses, municipalities, and climate action organisations as collaborators — building messaging that captures their full value. Every business we work with shapes what we make. And what we learn from each one makes the whole network stronger.
Connection
The circular economy grows when the right businesses reach the right communities. weRcircular exists to make that happen, connecting business owners who care about what they’re building with community members who want their choices to reflect their values. We listen to both sides, measure what lands, and share what we learn. Small and medium businesses are often left out of the sustainability conversation. weRcircular changes that by giving them a platform, a voice, and a community that believes in what they’re building.
“Cirularity isn’t a trend. It’s a return to something we already knew: that nothing of value should go to waste — not materials, not knowledge, and not the stories of the people doing this work every day.”
— Audrey Bayens, Founder, weRcircular
WHAT’S NEXT
How we’re getting started
We’re beginning locally because that’s where trust is built. Over the coming months, weRcircular will be spotlighting circular businesses in the Stouffville community, hosting public education events, and developing resources that make the circular economy tangible and inspiring for everyone.
If you’re a business owner who is already incorporating sustainability practices, whether that means reducing waste, extending product life, reusing materials, or rethinking your supply chain, we want to hear from you. Your story matters. Your model is the future.
And if you’re a community member who wants to understand what circularity looks like in real life, not just in textbooks, this space is for you too.
This is just the beginning.
The world doesn’t transform all at once. It transforms through the choices of businesses and their communities with the courage to do things differently, and communities with the awareness to support them. weRcircular is here to make that connection – one relationship, one story, one action at a time.
We’re so glad you’re here.
