Initiatives

weRcircular works where collaboration gets things done.

From international circular economy networks to right here in Stouffville, we partner with organizations that share our belief that communities and businesses are stronger when they work together. This page shares the initiatives, campaigns, and collaborations we’re proud to be part of.

Our partnerships reflect our values: openness, mutual respect, and a commitment to circular action that goes beyond talk. Whether you’re a funder, a potential collaborator, or an organization looking for a community-rooted partner in the circular economy space, we’d love to hear from you.

Stouffville Sustainable Business Awards

The Stouffville Sustainable Business Awards is an inaugural recognition program planned for November 2026. The Awards will celebrate local businesses making a genuine contribution to a circular economy — giving them a platform, a community, and stories worth telling.

weRcircular's Role

weRcircular is leading the development of this program and actively seeking community partners to help bring it to life. We welcome sponsors, collaborators, and supporters — whether that means funding, in-kind contributions, promotional support, or volunteer involvement. Businesses that want to be considered for recognition are encouraged to get in touch.

R Words of the Circular Economy — Stouffville Campaign

weRcircular’s 2026 public awareness campaign in Stouffville centres on Earth Day (April 22). The campaign spotlights local businesses whose work reflects circular economy principles — repair, reuse, refill, and more — helping the community see circularity already happening in their own neighbourhood.

This initiative supports The Region of York’s SM4RT Living Plan and Sustainable Stouffville’s circular economy events, but is working independently.

weRcircular’s Role

We are creating and distributing social media content spotlighting each participating business, produced a public display for the Stouffville Chamber of Commerce, and are hosting a community table at the Town of Stouffville’s  Earth Day event at the Stouffville Library in collaboration with Sustainable Stouffville. The campaign demonstrates something we believe strongly: Stouffville, we’re already circular.

Circular Economy Coalition

Circular Economy Coalition

The Circular Economy Coalition is an international coalition of value-aligned individuals and organizations, with founding members in over 30 countries, collectively advancing the circular economy through shared tools, research, and resources.

weRcircular’s Role

We share knowledge with the Coalition and collaborate on projects that support the development of better circular economy policies and economic incentives. Our involvement connects weRcircular — and the communities we work with — to a global movement working on the same challenges at a much larger scale.

Circular Regions

Circular Regions

Circular Regions provides digital infrastructure and open standards for mapping circular economy activity, empowering networks of communities with shared intelligence and data. Their platform connects cities, regions, and organizations globally to support supply chain transformation and best-practice sharing.

weRcircular's Role

weRcircular partnered with Circular Regions to build a snapshot mapping of Canadian circular economy businesses through condensed case studies on their global platform. This work puts Canadian businesses — including those in Stouffville — on an international map, creating connections that support supply chain transformation and cross-community learning.

Circular Economy Club

Circular Economy Clubs of Canada

The Circular Economy Club (CEC) is an international network of over 280 local clubs across 140 countries, bringing together professionals and organizations committed to advancing the circular economy. It is the non-profit arm of the Circular Economy Institute (CEI), a global network that provides training, accreditation, and knowledge sharing to promote best practice and collaboration in the field.

In Canada, Circular Economy Clubs of Canada unites CEC city clubs nationwide — open to anyone interested in learning about and supporting the transition to a circular economy. weRcircular supports this network, and our team are active members.

weRcircular's Role

In 2021 and 2022, weRcircular founder Audrey Bayens led more than 50 Canadian circular economy businesses through a qualification and interview process, culminating in a Canadian business circularity panel at the World Circular Economy Forum. This work established weRcircular as a credible connector between local businesses and the global circular economy community.

Circular Economy Month event 2025

Circular Economy Month

Circular Economy Month is Canada’s national circular economy public awareness campaign, held every October. It invites individuals, governments, organizations, and schools across Canada to learn about the circular economy, celebrate collective progress, and encourage others to take action.

weRcircular’s Role

In 2024 and 2025, weRcircular hosted a screening of the film 2040 in Stouffville as part of Circular Economy Month — bringing the conversation about circular futures to a local audience. The 2025 screening was held in collaboration with Sustainable Stouffville, deepening our community partnership.

York Region — SM4RT Living Program

York Region’s SM4RT Living Program is a long-term strategy for sustainable, smart growth across the Region — guiding how municipalities, businesses, and residents work together toward a more circular, resource-efficient future.

weRcircular's Role

From 2023 to 2025, weRcircular founder Audrey Bayens served on the Region’s Circular Economy Taskforce committee, contributing to the development of a framework to strengthen relationships between businesses and citizens and encourage circular practices across York Region. Audrey has since been invited to explore developing additional initiatives to advance the circular economy in the Region — a reflection of the trust weRcircular has built with regional government.
