We are a new company creating a very specific apparel line for an under-served market using very specific natural and organic fabric. The line is, and will be, zero-waste and carbon neutral with the goal of becoming carbon positive. We design our pieces with their end of life in mind and take responsibility for all our clothes as we intend to offer a take-back program for end-of-life garments so they don't end up in landfill. Our selling practices are based on selling less and selling better while introducing new styles infrequently and in minimal quantities, deliberately getting away from the fast fashion trend. We will encourage repair (including instructions and videos) if that becomes an issue (but we hope it won't because our clothes are so well made).
75% of all women get hot flashes and night sweats during menopause. For some, they can last for years. Severe night sweats can seriously disrupt your sleep causing additional problems from a lack of concentration to low energy, weight gain and more.
Meanwhile, the apparel industry is one of the worst polluters in the world as well as one of the most significant water consumers. It uses too many natural resources, creates clothes that go directly into landfill without being worn, employs labour under dangerous circumstances and releases toxins from manufacturing into local waterways and airways.
Our solution for helping women get their sleep back is to use hemp fabric to create a nightgown. Hemp is an amazing material that naturally manages moisture and heat due to its inherent physical structure. We considered design, materials (including thread and labels) and end-of-life when creating the nightgown so that it will be effective for a long period of time and compostable or returnable at end of use. Our company will strive to be carbon neutral and eventually carbon positive offsetting emissions after doing all that we can to reduce to them to minimal levels.
We are hoping that eventually we can create an apparel company that increases the demand for responsible fabrics not made from synthetics or even recycled plastic. Further, we want consumers to purchase fewer items from higher quality materials where best practices are used in the creation of the fabric and garment, and its responsible disposal. Our goal is to work against fast fashion and wasted resources.
